Born in 1958 in Ascona, Switzerland, Hannes Wettstein is one of the foremost designers of the Swiss school. He works in the fields of product design, corporate design, interior design and architecture. In addition to the furniture, lamps and home accessories for which he is best known, he also designs professional audio equipment and watches.
His work has been produced by, to name a few, Cassina, Dada, Desalto, Fiam Italia,
Molteni, Unifor, Sony and Audi.

Among his more important architectural projects are the Grand Hyatt hotel chain in Berlin and the Swiss embassy in Washington D.C. Since 1991, he has enjoyed a successful academic career alongside his activities as a designer.
